Cat's Cafe by Matt Tarpley

Release Date May 26, 2020 I think this is a super-friendly comic book for children of all age groups; especially, beginners who are first starting to learn how to read. The story does a great job of hitting on some pretty difficult topics; such as depression, the feeling of loneliness, and the importance of true friendship. Throughout the book, the reader is introduced to Cat, a coffee shop owner. Cat takes a lot of pride in providing top-notch service for all the guests who look at the coffee shop as a safe haven and as the epicenter for the growth of new budding friendships. Cat hires the first employee, Rabbit, who really looks up to Cat as a mentor.  The book is broken up with many activities along the way, which not only stimulates the mind but makes things more fun and interesting for young readers. The creativity and artistic flow of the illustrations add to the overall experience and enjoyment of the story.

The Fox & the little Tanuki Vol 1 By Mi Tagawa

Release Date March 17, 2020 One of my favorite characters was; of course, Manpachi! He is the most adorable cub ever; I want to wrap him up and hug him. Lol, what I enjoyed so much in the story was the relationship evolution between Senzou and Manipachi. The witty banter amongst the two added a light comedic air to the overall arch of the narrative. The artwork depicting the tail of the once-great spirited fox was truly exquisite. If you are unfamiliar with Japanese Fantasies and are new to reading the genre; it may be hard at first to understand all the mythical creatures and the history behind them. Overall, I am very intrigued to see where the story continues in future volumes of the series.

Beauty and the Beast by Jessica Gunderson

Release Date August 1, 2020 Available Editions EDITION Hardcover ISBN 9781515871170 PRICE $15.99 (USD) Quick Shout out to this A.R.C from Netgalley for allowing me to review this book before anyone else! YOU GUYS ROCK!  One of my favorite Disney princess stories! Beauty and the Beast is a classic; Gunderson's adaptation was a revamped new twist bringing Belle into 2020. I found it very interesting that Belle had sisters when in the original she was an only child. Reminiscent of another one of Disney's creations, Cinderella. The artwork/graphics were exquisite, loved how all the characters were drawn. A nice, enjoyable, easy read; great for early-readers. Preferably kids in first or second grade around six to seven years of age would absolutely love this book. One of my only wishes for this short story would have been the integration of other key characters; such as Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, and the cutest one of them all Chip.

Dear Edward By Ann Napolitano

This book made me cry; so many times we watched Edward go though having a family to losing it all in one moment. It was very heartbreaking to me, but also seeing all the people on the plane, meeting them, and getting to know each one of their stories while all-knowing they will eventually die. 😭I really like Edward's aunt & uncle, they took him in even though they were going through their own trials and tribulations. Desperately wanting a child of their own. Lacey and John went through the tragedy of miscarriage after miscarriage. To then finding out, they may never have a child of their own due to Lacey's health.   What stuck with me the most and is the biggest take away from reading this book is the bond and formation of relationships outside of your direct family members that can truly help a person rise through the depths of despair. Edward's relationship...
